Jackson County VINELink Coverage
Minnesota VINE, or Victim Information and Notification Everyday, is administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs. The January 2025 state fact sheet says it connects to county jails and detention facilities. That makes it the correct notification route for a person held in Jackson County Jail. It can report custody status and custody-change events supplied through the participating jail feed.
The same fact sheet does not include MNDOC prisons in Minnesota VINE coverage. A person transferred from Jackson County Jail to state prison has moved to a different custodian. Use the MNDOC Public Viewer for public status and date information, and Minnesota HAVEN through DOC Victim Assistance for prison notifications. The federal Bureau of Prisons and immigration detention also have separate systems.

Search Jackson County VINELink Records
Search for one person and match the result carefully. A full or partial name may return more than one person. A facility identification number can narrow the result when it is known. Spelling, aliases, and recent processing can affect what appears. The result should fit the known facility and identifier before any alert is registered.

- Enter the person's full or partial name, or use the facility identification number when available.
- Review all matches. Compare the holding facility, booking identifier, and other displayed details rather than selecting by name alone.
- Open the matching record and read the current custody information and any scheduled-release detail supplied by the jail.
- Keep release, bond release, court-order release, transfer, purge, and unsupervised custody events distinct.
- If no reliable match appears, check the Jackson County current roster and ask the Sheriff to confirm the identified booking.

Jackson County VINELink Release Fields
The official fact sheet describes the types of information that may be available, but not every field is guaranteed for each Jackson County record. The jail controls what source data are supplied. A scheduled date can change, and the official sheet does not establish one exact current web label for every released result. Avoid quoting a label that is not present on the live record.

A VINE result is more useful when paired with the right local record. The Sheriff's public adult release data can provide the date, time, and legal basis for release. Transfer data can identify the receiving agency. Those fields explain what happened after a status changed.
Read Jackson County VINELink Events
Event wording matters. General release, release by court order, and release on bond describe release events. A transfer means the person moved to another custodian. It does not establish community release. “Unsupervised custody” can include work release or electronic home monitoring, which also differs from an unconditional discharge.
A record purge can explain why a result disappears. Escape, outage, death, and transfer are distinct notices too. The state fact sheet reports an eight-hour delay for transfer alerts and a twelve-hour delay for death notices. Other county feed changes generally arrive every 15 or 30 minutes, but no notification platform is instantaneous or a certified release record.

Register Jackson County Release Alerts
Registration begins from the correct person record. An account is optional, and the official service permits anonymous registration. Contact choices can include a phone number, email, text-capable number, or in-app notification. A PIN controls phone confirmation and later changes, so store it where it can be retrieved without placing it in a public note.
- Open the verified Jackson County Jail result and choose the notification or registration option shown by VINELink.
- Select the available phone, text, email, or app destination that fits the needed alert.
- Create the requested PIN. Keep it private because it is used to confirm phone notices and manage the registration.
- Review the person and destination before submitting. An alert tied to the wrong match will not track the intended booking.
- When a phone notice arrives, enter the PIN to confirm receipt and stop repeat calls.
- Use the PIN to change or cancel the registration. Call Customer First at 1-866-277-7477 if the PIN is lost.
Phone alerts behave differently from one-time digital notices. The fact sheet says unconfirmed release calls can repeat every 30 minutes for 24 hours. After an answered but unconfirmed call or voicemail, calls may repeat every two hours. Text, email, and app notices are sent once for the event. Entering the PIN confirms receipt and stops the phone cycle.

Jackson County Victim Notification Layer
Jackson County Sheriff's mandatory policy adds a local notification step in the arrest-response setting. It instructs deputies to warn a victim that continued custody is not guaranteed and to pass contact information to jail staff for release notification under Minnesota Statutes section 629.72, subdivision 6. That instruction recognizes that custody can change before a person expects it.
The local process supplements Minnesota VINE. It is not a public database, and it does not replace registration through the state service. It also does not guarantee the precise time at which a notice will arrive. A person relying on the local victim-notification process should keep contact information current with the responsible staff and may also use VINE when eligible.
Different routes may serve different needs. VINE automates notices from the jail feed. Jail staff administer the local policy. The Sheriff's underlying record supplies exact release or transfer fields after the fact. Treating all three as one product can hide which office is responsible when information is late or incomplete.
Jackson County Prison Release Notifications
A Jackson County resident or case can involve a person who has moved from the county jail to an MNDOC prison. At that point, Minnesota VINE is no longer the prison-notification route described by the current state fact sheet. Use Minnesota HAVEN through MNDOC Victim Assistance, available by phone at 800-657-3830, for state prison notification services.
Use the MNDOC Public Viewer for public status and date fields. Search by first and last name or the full six-digit Offender ID. The detail may show Current Status, Anticipated Release Date, Expiration Date, facility or supervision information, and a caseworker. The viewer covers adults who remain under MNDOC jurisdiction, including some people already released from prison to supervision.
HAVEN and the Public Viewer serve different functions. HAVEN is the notification channel. The viewer is the public record lookup. If the person has reached final discharge and no longer appears, MNDOC Records Management is the historical fallback. Do not use county VINE silence to infer anything about an MNDOC prison release.
Jackson County VINELink Search Limits
VINELink does not cover every form of custody connected to Jackson County. It is not a Bureau of Prisons locator, an ICE locator, a universal supervision search, or a complete historical release list. It also does not replace MCRO, which can show the court order or Register of Actions but not certify the time a person passed through the jail door.
A current-custody result and a released-person record require different checks. Someone still listed in Jackson County Jail can be checked in the current roster and VINELink. After release, the VINE event may remain useful, but the Sheriff's release record is the formal source for date, time, and legal basis. If the person transferred to MNDOC, the state viewer and HAVEN become the correct channels.
Federal and immigration inquiries also remain custodian-specific. A BOP result marked Released or Not in BOP Custody proves exit from BOP custody only. An ICE no-result can arise from lag, spelling, age, transfer, removal, or other limits. Neither should be combined with a missing county result to declare release.
For a Jackson County Jail event, use two compatible channels when possible. Pair a VINE custody change with Sheriff confirmation, or pair the jail record with a court order that explains the legal basis. Conflicting results call for a custodian check, not a guess.
